Christine is a versatile garden designer who enjoys working closely with her clients to create inspired and practical designs that draw out the full potential of the garden. Clean lines and mathematically harmonious proportions are hallmarks of her work.
Originally a mathematician, Christine enjoyed a successful career as a partner in an actuarial consultancy before gaining a Distinction in the post-graduate diploma in Residential Landscape Design at Oxford College of Garden Design. She also took the Royal Horticultural Society's level 2 certificate in Horticulture, passing with commendation, and has enjoyed a lifelong interest in plants and gardens.
Garden design is a blend of creativity and problem solving. Christine's analytical background and natural creativity are an ideal combination, and through her years of consultancy experience she understands the importance of working closely with her clients.
Christine is a Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers, the only professional body in the UK dedicated solely to garden design. She is also a Registered Designer member of the British Association Of Landscape Industries. Christine has won many awards for her gardens, including from the SGD and BALI, and her work has been widely published in the media.
It doesn't just stop when the garden is complete. Christine Whatley offers a unique tailored service "Learning in your Garden" to help her clients learn about their garden and how to keep it looking so good. Christine's training is hands on, in the owner's own garden and covers the topics they choose.
